The
Itinerary
Embarkation officially commenced at 3pm at the QE2 terminal, Southampton. Due to Bank Holiday traffic it took us 5 hours to reach Southampton, rather than the usual 2 1/2; so it was a good job we had left home with plenty of time to spare. It was 4pm by the time we dropped the luggage with a porter, and car with Andrew's Shipside Services. Check-in took about 10 mins and then straight onto Black Watch, to find the luggage already in the cabin. That was quick!

Our friends from Yorkshire were already aboard, having left home at 5am. Great to see them again. We quickly unpacked and set off for Sail Away drinks in the Neptune lounge. The children were excited to see each other again and non-stop talking! The Muster drill [Fred. Olsen do a roll call] was at 5.15pm and the Capt. advised we'd be leaving a bit early as everyone was aboard. Amazing really considering the traffic & accidents about; thought someone might have been delayed, but no. So we departed at 5.45pm to quite a few people waving from the other side of the QE2 terminal. We were berthed next to P&O's Victoria, who is sailing tomorrow. We had a quick wash for dinner, consuming the free wine in the cabin from Freddie. The flowers from Mum and Dad had arrived shortly before departure and were lovely. So we're all set:) 581NM to La Coruña, Spain. |

Due to the rough weather across The Channel we were late arriving back at Southampton. It did mean we could have an extra lie-in and leisurely breakfast without rushing. We were docked by 9am, and although we were the last group to disembark, we were in the car by 10:30am and back home by 1pm. Disembarkation was not the smoothest; The Neptune Lounge where one would normally wait to be called, was being used for a meeting. The meeting wouldn't have started until after disembarkation had finished, but due to being late, this meant everyone was having to wait elsewhere and it did get a bit congested in the hallways; but refreshments were available. An excellent holiday, and Carol and Adrian and children all thoroughly enjoyed it as well.
